One of the oldest clubs in Seattle and founded more than half a century ago in 1950, West Seattle Toastmasters, Club 832 is a thriving club which has been honored by having a growing number of members who bring with them a diversity of experiences, careers and families. Some are currently in the workforce, some retired; some with public speaking experience, most without; some balancing family and work responsibilities, and some just trying to keep balanced with all that life throws at us. Our membership is open to everyone 18 years of age or older. Guests are always welcome. There's a spot here for you!
Among the many reasons our members have chosen to be part of West Seattle Toastmasters, Club #832 are:
Our History - Club #832 was founded on April 27, 1950 - one of the oldest clubs in the Seattle area! Originally we were called the "Federal Toastmaster's Club of Seattle". Toastmaster Club's originally were for business men, but by the 1970's, women were invited to join and the Toastmaster organization today hosts a diverse membership that is global in it's scope.
Club #832's membership was "drawn from Federal service military and civilian personnel in and around Seattle". The original officers came from the General Services Administration, the FBI, the Seattle Port of Embarkation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Public Housing Administration.
Why Choose Us - We have enthusiastic leaders providing dynamic leadership. Club #832 regularly achieves distinguished status in the Toastmasters International organization. We produce club contest winners who often progress to Division and District level. We video tape speeches and evaluations to provide valuable feedback to our speakers.
Remember, Toastmasters is much more than "just" learning to speak.
Toastmasters, especially Club #832, is a group of friendly and supportive people who can help you learn how to express yourself more confidently and feel more comfortable in a social environment.
"I stay in Toastmasters because of the people and educational value! Warm, supportive, fun-loving and inspiring describe West Seattle Toastmasters Club #832."
